Case Study · Website Rebuild

An 8-page template,
rebuilt to rank the whole metro.

Urban Electric & Lighting is an Omaha electrician — residential and commercial, licensed and insured, available 24/7. Their old website was a purchased WordPress template: slow (nine seconds to load on a phone), just eight thin pages, and quietly working against them with placeholder “0 years of experience” counters. We rebuilt it from the ground up — bespoke, fast, and engineered to rank across the entire metro and turn visitors into calls.

The problem

A purchased template, quietly costing them jobs.

The black-and-yellow brand was there, but it lived inside a bought WordPress/Elementor theme — slow, thin, and undermining its own credibility. On a phone it took nine seconds to show the main content, it had a single real location signal, and it shipped placeholder copy the business never asked for.

What we did

A bespoke rebuild, engineered to rank and convert.

A different class of product: it looks like the premium contractor they are, ranks across the metro, and turns visitors into calls the instant they land.

01

A bespoke design, not a template

The old black-and-yellow brand lived inside a purchased theme — cramped, cluttered, generic. We rebuilt the look from their real identity: a confident near-black and electric-yellow palette, bold condensed display type, and real job-site photography treated cinematically so the headline always pops. A signature “live electricity” motion — a current line under the header, an energy pulse behind the hero, cards that energize on hover — gives it personality without gimmickry, and fully respects reduced-motion.

02

Rebuilt for speed

Hand-coded and static-first, served from a global edge network — no server to wait on, no database query per visit, and effectively no JavaScript unless a feature truly needs it. Images auto-convert to next-gen formats and ship right-sized (a 12 MB source photo becomes ~50 KB), fonts are self-hosted, and the hero is tuned to paint the headline first. Mobile load dropped from 9.0s to 2.4s — with zero layout shift.

03

A 117-page local-search engine

The old site had one location signal — “Omaha.” The new one has 48 location pages (the metro, its neighborhoods, and the outlying towns) plus 40 service-by-city pages like “generator installation Gretna” — each with unique, locally-specific copy (never templated duplicates) and full structured data. Instead of competing for one keyword, it’s built to show up across dozens of neighborhood- and town-level searches.

04

A lead pipeline that never drops a lead

The instant someone submits the form, the owner gets a mobile-first alert with one-tap call, text, and email — and emergencies are auto-detected and flagged “respond ASAP.” The customer gets a branded auto-reply that sets expectations, spam is stopped by privacy-friendly bot protection (no “click all the traffic lights”), and every lead is saved to a backup, so nothing slips through the cracks.

05

Trust built into every page

Real 4.8★ Google reviews with review schema, Licensed & Insured and master-electrician trust signals, 24/7 emergency messaging sitewide, and a sticky mobile call bar always one thumb-tap away. And nothing false ships — any fact we didn’t have is gracefully hidden, never faked. (The old site literally advertised “0 years of experience.”)

06

Accessible, and effortless to grow

A perfect 100 on accessibility — proper heading structure, WCAG AA contrast, visible keyboard focus, labeled forms, descriptive alt text, full reduced-motion support. And because the whole content layer is data-driven, adding a new service or a whole new town is a single data entry — no page-building, no plugins to patch, no database exposed to the internet.
